Liv Tyler's second capsule collection for Belstaff oozes seventies inspired rock n roll
If you didn’t think Liv Tyler could get any cooler, think again. Unveiling her second collaborative collection for British heritage brand Belstaff, the daughter of seventies rock-star Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler has ultimately proven her talent for design.
The SS17 Belstaff collection took inspiration from the English countryside with a rock ‘n’ roll edge in a presentation which took place at Victoria House, Bloomsbury on Sunday. The ___ piece collection which included 4 of Belstaff’s menswear models referenced a free-spirited woman; feminine but with a twist. Taking inspiration from cool-cats including Pattie Boyd and Anita Pallenberg, the collection encapsulates a ride through the country on a motorcycle – and boy, do we want to hitch a ride!
The collection titled “Across the Wilderness” celebrates a 5,500-mile motorcycle journey across America by the Van Buren sisters in 1916. Dressed in military uniform the sisters helped pave the way for women’s rights around the world. The soldierly-style apparel which references Belstaff’s traditional archives incorporates Tyler’s femininity resulting in a compelling collection. With a palette of green hues and camel shades in juxtaposition to a floral motif, this spring-summer collection is made for an elegant explorer.
Tyler told The Telegraph, “Everything is pretty, with a bit of an edge, but also something you can be quite strong and function in. It looks gorgeous but makes you feel like you can go on any adventure.” Tyler’s former AW16 collection paid homage to Amelia Earhart (one of the first women to be dressed by Belstaff) in a 13-piece collection celebrating a combination of masculinity and femininity with leather and fur intertwined. This season, however, is lighter: “This was more “summer garden party”-kind of thinking”. CAN WE COME?
